What Are You Doing In The Meantime?
This morning, I woke up and felt a nudge to take action…
I've had a goal to get back to the gym since January. I want to increase my stamina, for general wellness, and because I’m a 40-something-year-old toddler mom who wants to keep up with her Little One.
But my schedule… Things have been busy. Unpredictable at times. And truthfully, I haven’t prioritized the gym because it felt like one more thing to try to coordinate when I was over coordinating. For a while, that became a reason to wait before leveling up my movement routine. When I can do it the “right” way, then I'll start.
But this morning I asked myself a different question: In the meantime, what can I do?
So I woke up and ran .75 miles. My breath wasn't as haggard as I thought it would be. I felt good.
I'm sharing this because I know I'm not the only one sitting on a goal that's waiting on better conditions. More time. A cleaner calendar. The "right" moment. And meanwhile, nothing happens.
What if the in-between is the practice?
Progress toward the goal is the goal.
You don't have to wait until you can do it full-out.
Three places to practice "in the meantime" with me:

🎤 See you at the AISNE Academic Leadership Symposium — October 1 & 2. I'm co-facilitating this two-day symposium with my dear friends Lori Cohen and Kawai Lai in Natick, MA. This is for department chairs, deans, instructional coaches, and academic leaders. We’ll be doing practical, grounded work that centers your well-being, helps you assess the conditions of your professional ecosystem, and prepares you to meet the moment for whatever challenges may present themselves next school year. → Learn more and register here
Point-seven-five miles. That's where I started today.
Where can you start, right now, in the meantime?
With care, Tamisha
This newsletter is dedicated to Nemo Octavius, who moved on from this realm in the early morning of Saturday, May 30. Nemo taught me to make the most of each moment, to ask for what you want with confidence (and persistence lol), and to protect those you love with the fullness of your being. If you’ve followed my work for a while, I’ve mentioned Nemo and his corkiness here and there. His presence is missed, but his memories still fill the rooms in our homes and the corners of our minds.
